Human Rights

So many times in this world, we tend to take for granted the rights and privileges that we have.

In some countries, rape is not illegal. In other countries, you are not allowed to voice an opinion about your government. Some countries do not have the facilities to teach children. And the list can just go on. Every single day, people's rights are disregaded and grossly abused.

Well, you say, I am just one person, what can I do? The answer is simple: Break the silence. Speak up for those that have no voice.

Join Amnesty's Urgent Action Network and participate in campaigns and urgent issues. They even have a screensave you can download to be reminded of what we are trying to achieve in this world.

And if you think your voice won't be heard, please think again:

"I was beaten and verbally abused in detention. After a few days, the guards asked me, 'Do you know that your name is all over the Internet?' After that, I was treated better by the guards before being released. The appeals sent by Amnesty members definitely had an effect on my case."

If you do not at least try, you will never know what you can do.
