Mothballs are not a very good invention in either smell or environmental or human safety. There are however (as with all human inventions) ways to keep the crawlies at bay without coming in contact with these harmful chemicals. Some of these tips include cedar blocks, ways to pack materials, etc. Add to these: keep the last bit of soap, let it dry out and stick it between clothes; put twigs of lavender between the material or use a lavender linen spray.
